Arathy Manoharan is the co-founder of Young Achievers, an organization that works with young Deaf people from India to ensure that they receive the same human rights as those who are not Deaf by providing access to quality sign bilingual educational services. She graduated from the University of Delhi with a master in English Literature and from McDaniel College in Maryland, U.S.A. with a master in Deaf Education. She currently serves as an English teacher for high school students at the Model Secondary School for the Deaf in Washington, D.C. Over the past 8 years, she has led several workshops on strategies to promote literacy among Deaf children in schools for the Deaf all over India.

Co-founder

Bilal Chinoy is the Multimedia Designer in Gallaudet University’s Office of Communications and Public Relations and an Adjunct Professor for Web Design. The focus of his job is to make the stories on Gallaudet University’s website come alive by designing visuals. His other main duties include leading the design team for student recruitment presentations, brochures and other print collateral, creating the slides for the university’s front page and the social media accounts to promote the stories on the university’s website, capturing the life of the campus community using photos and videos, designing icons, presentations, advertisements and other web contents.

With the power of chai in his veins and a love of adventure, Mr. Chinoy finds himself recharged by biking, trekking, running and traveling. He is a step closer to achieving his dream of bridging the gap between education and employability of Deaf youth in India by co-founding Young Achievers, an organization that aims to provide quality bilingual Deaf educational services.

Mr. Chinoy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design and Computer Science from Gallaudet University in 2006.
